This design feature that started having a come-back a few years ago, is still going strong today. So I want to share with you some ideas on how to incorporate arches in modern interiors.
While scrolling through Pinterest looking for inspiration, I find myself pinning the same images again and again. A lot of the modern homes I pin have details that make them stand out, something special that gives them character. Usually they have classic details incorporated in a fresh way, like arches.
how to incorporate arches in modern interiors
1. incorporate arched doors and windows
Arched windows and doors double as an important architectural elements on the exterior as well as the interior of the house. It is one of my favorite element because of the overall charm it adds to the house.
What makes a home have abundant character is the layers of details that were added in the design and construction process. Like in the butlers pantry bellow, no detail was overlooked. The arched window is finished with the beautiful trim detail. The marble subway tile was installed all the way up as well as the cabinets taken up to the ceiling. The custom marble apron front sink and brass bridge faucet, the pendant light and the mixed shapes in the hardware, every detail adds more and more beauty to this space!
2. incorporate arched doorways & hallways
Places that we don’t give too much attention to, like hallways, can become the start of a home by incorporating arches.
3. incorporate arched built-ins
Built-ins are normally focal points in living rooms, and they deserve a special treatment in the design. These arched ones designed by The Lifestyled Co. are the perfect place to display all the beautiful decor items, treasures collected from travels, books and art.
4. incorporate arched walk-in showers
Arched walk-in showers are just wow! I will gladly skip having to clean a glass shower door and create a shower alcove, where the arch is the king and the zellige tile from Clè is the queen.
5. incorporate arched range hoods
This space designed by Cdot Design Studio takes kitchen design to the next level. The arched booked-marked marble hood is the show stopper, but everything else is equally amazing.
6. incorporate arched mirrors
Disclaimer: I get a small commissions for purchases made through links in this post.
While this is a beautiful built-in with an arched mirror, you could take the easy route and buy an arched mirror. It could be easily incorporated in a bathroom or over a mantel or a console. For a bigger impact, buy an arched floor mirror like this one from Amazon.
7. incorporate arched nooks
There is something about nooks and small cozy spaces like the one below that make me feel comfortable and happy. Incorporate as many as you can in your home, and if you can add an arch and vertical shiplap even better!
8. incorporate arched painted mural
If you are not planning on doing major renovations in order to incorporate the ideas I shared, then this is for you.
A simply DIY that can transform a room with just paint!
9. incorporate arched furniture
How cool is this arched canopy bed? And what a visual effect it creates through shape and color in this bedroom! In addition this is a great example of mixing elements, textures and shapes in order to create a beautiful and out of the ordinary space!
Lastly I just want to say how grateful I am for all the talented designers that create beauty in homes and enrich our lives through their work.
Thanks for being here!
