It’s back to school season and today I am sharing 5 ways to create paces that spark and develop creativity in them.
I am convinced that setting up a beautiful and inspiring work space would help them get excited about what they need to accomplish and help them find joy in reading, learning new things and creating.
1. SURROUND them with books
The most inspiring rooms for me are the home libraries, where there are walls full of books from floor to ceiling. When our kids and are surrounded with all kinds of books, it’s impossible for them not to find at least one that sparks interest and curiosity.
This amazing living room is every kid or teenagers dream. So colorful and full of energy and joy!
Doesn’t this space make you want to grab a book and read?
This hanging chair is so fun! Hang one next to a shelf full of books, and make this the designated area for reading! You can find a similar hanging chair here.
2. create an art gallery
Every child loves to display the paintings, drawings and sketches they create. And parents like the house clean… so scattered paintings all over the house is not a great idea. We can create specific areas where they can display their creations.
Here’s a cork board wall for kids art idea from Young House Love.
The second idea is super easy to implement. I found something similar here that I plan to use for my daughter’s room to display her paintings.
3. Add a chalkboard wall!
This full wall chalkboard is such a great inspiration from Cloistered Away. I love the relaxed feel of this room, with the chippy chair and the kids doing their work around this huge table. If you plan on painting a wall with chalkboard paint you can find one here.
4. incorporate music
Incorporating music in our daily routines is such a wonderful way to teach kids to appreciate and enjoy music. From listening to music in the mornings to learning to play an instrument (even if not every one of us will take this to the next level), this is an amazing way to discover our kids creative abilities.
I found so many free pianos similar to the one above on Facebook Marketplace. Hope to convince my husband one day to bring one home, and maybe even paint it a fun color. Hang other smaller instruments with hooks on the surrounding walls to save space and create a music corner in your home.
5. encourage crafting
There is such a great satisfaction when creating something with our own hands. Creating the right space for them to get messy gives them the opportunity to learn a helpful skill for the future.
Sowing, embroidery, woodworking, pottery or something else, there is something that our kids will like enjoy doing with their hands.
These are just a few ways we can use our homes to develop creativity in our kids and help them find joy in learning, working and creating something unique.
I hope you got inspired to fill your home with books or to get started on working on that craft project you’ve been putting off.
